The exhibition „die reise des gilgamesh/travels of gilgamesh“ was designed for the greenhouses of the Botanical Garden Bonn, Germany
in 2001. Thematically is woven around the oldest epos of human history and the legendary king Gilgamesh.
Gilgamesh is travelling with his companion Enkidu in order to conquer nature and the gods … and fails to do so.
The exhibition was structured into 12 parts of double-panles according to the 12 literal components of the epos.
A musical transcription for cello was written by the composer Gerhard Fleischmann. Recitation of parts of the epos were accompanied by
cellist Florian Fleischmann, performing that composition.
The exhibition and performances were reissued in the Botanical Garden Düsseldorf, in the impressive dome of the gardens. The project and the underlying
dealing with questions of human impact on nature was decisive for this early artistic creative phase.
